Margaret Paul

Margaret is the longest serving staff member and was previously a midwife in Kawerau delivering many of our current patients when the Kawerau Maternity Annexe was operational. She had an immense network and if she doesn’t know how to find the person you need to contact to solve a problem she will find out within a short time. She is passionate about cervical screening and was involved in setting up the Kawerau Cervical Screening Clinic before they were forced to close when funding was withdrawn. The Tarawera Medical Centre has committed to subsidising smear tests for all our enrolled patients so that a free service remains as we strongly believe there should be no financial barrier to accessing this preventive test. Margaret spends a lot of time sending out reminders so that people keep up to date with their tests and gain the full benefit available.

Margaret has 2 sons and 3 grandchildren and gets great joy from them. Her other great pleasure is cycling and she has been the driving force  behind our repeated involvement in the Taupo Cycle Challenge. Look for the photo gallery when you’re next in the surgery and you’ll find that she is the only one with photo every year!
